Ski Area Marmolada
The Queen of the Dolomites
Marmolada, with its 3343 metres, is the highest mountain
in the Dolomites. Its northern side is covered with the widest glacier
of the whole dolomitic chain. Thanks to its stateliness and to its extraordinary
beauty it is called the Queen of the Dolomites.
On its skiing sides there were important ski competitions
in the 1950s; legendary names in the history of the downhill skiing,
as Sailer, Pravda, Hinteser, Obergainer, Bozon from France, Wallace
from the USA, Colò Gartner and Gluck from Italy competed in the
longest giant slalom of the world and in the races of the “Tre
Tre”. Such extraordinary events drew thousands of people to Fedaia,
who walked from Pian Trevisan to the Pass to see and cheer their idols.

The first chair lift, which from Fedaia led to Pian dei
Fiacconi, was built in 1952. It was an important event for the development
of tourism and for the national and international sport. Skiing on Marmolada
is always an unforgettable experience and a very charming chance.
