Ski Area Trevalli

The Trevalli Ski Area includes the Lusia Alps, San Pellegrino Pass and the Falcade Ski Area

The Trevalli Ski Area has its own ski pass and it is not possible to use the Fassa Valley Ski Pass, even in Moena (see Trevalli Ski Pass).
Ski resort of primary tourist interest, Moena is also called “The Fairy of the Dolomites”. It lies at 1184mt and is the most densely populated village of the whole Val di Fassa. At only five minutes from the centre of the village, on the street leading to the Passo S.Pellegrino and to Falcade, we find, served by handy busses, the Alpe Lusia. A very modern Ski Area, which gives the possibility to ski on 8 ski runs provided with brand-new ski lifts: 1 12-seater cable car with automatic linking, 1 36-seater cableway, 5 4-seater chairlifts with automatic linking 3 of which are faired, 1 school-field ski-lift. The ski runs, for a total of 40Km, all provided with artificial snow system and always kept to perfection, grant great fun to any kind of skiers even to the most demanding. The youngest can be entrusted to the Baby Club and to the assistance of the Ski-School Moena Dolomiti. The ski resort Alpe Lusia, which is included in the carousel of the Ski Area Trevalli, is served by typical Alpine Refuges, Restaurants-Self-Service- with wide and comfortable solarium. Among the several dolomitic views, the most spectacular are the Catinaccio chain, Sassolungo, the Pale and Latemar.

It is a wide pass, which lies at half way between Moena and Falcade at 1918mt. Exclusive hotels, which offer accommodation facilities for about 1000 people, allow the direct access to the ski runs. The Passo S.Pellegrino, which enjoys a stainless beautiful scenario at the foot of the Monzoni chain, is linked to Moena through a very good skibus service. Besides being an aspired destination for the older, it is certainly the ideal place also for children, as the Ski Area offers large spaces with school-fields and alternative activities to ski such as: sledge, cross-country skiing and walks on paths completely clear from snow. At the Pass there are 11 ski lifts: 1 100-seater cableway, 1 4-seater chairlift with automatic linking and 5 ski-lifts of the school-field, 60 Km of ski runs provided with artificial snow system. The link with the Ski Area Falcade is granted by the cableway “Col Margherita”, the impressive structure with 2-seater cages, planned by Pininfarina, which from a height of 1918mt allows reaching 2513mt. Even the Passo S.Pellegrino is provided with the “Baby Club” service for the youngest. The several alpine refuges and typical restaurants served by a wide solarium, offer the possibility to rest and revitalise after the skiing. For the non-skiers, there is the possibility to enjoy the grandeur of the dolomitic summits and to have beautiful walks on foot or with “ciaspole” (typical snowshoes).

Falcade, Venatian/Bellunese side of the Ski Area Trevalli lies at 1200mt and is surrounded by one of the most striking and enchanting dolomitic views. Actually, its summits are among the most known of the Dolomites and represent a marvellous mountain setting for the ski resort: Marmolada, Cime D’Auta, Civetta and Pelmo, the Cime del Focobon and the chain of the Pale di S.Pellegrino are the background of the picture where stand out Falcade and the Val del Biois. From Falcade you are easily connected with the Passo S.Pellegrino thanks to 3 modern chairlifts with automatic linking. Falcade has 7 ski lifts and like the other ski resorts of the Ski Area Trevalli, it offers runs with different levels of difficulty, Falcade and the Passo S. Pellegrino offer together about 60Km of ski runs with artificial system. Very good alpine refuges and typical restaurants, which are a great relief to the weariness of a day, characterised by sport and fun.

Slopes Ski Area Trevalli

The departure is very close to the uphill station of the cableway “Valbona-Le Cune”; the arrival is situated in the area Ronchi, in the surroundings of the departure station of the cable car “Ronchi-Valbona”. It has a length of about a 3.6/Km and a surface of 18 hectares, completely provided with artificial snow equipment planned with low-pressure system. The higher part does not present many difficulties, which on the contrary are accentuated in the second half, between the uphill and downhill stations of the cable car. It is superfluous to remind that the skilifts, which serve the ski run, are the cable car “Ronchi Valbona”, accomplished in 1987, with an hourly capacity of 1800 p/h, 12-seater cable cars and run time of about 4.30, and the cableway “Valbona-Le Cune”, renewed in 1989, with an hourly capacity of 540 p/h, and 36-seater cable cars.

The Venetian part of the ski run starts at a height of 2.510 m above the sea level and finishes at a height of 2230 m, it is 1536.40 m long and it is characterised by a medium gradient of 18.5%. In the higher part, at a height of about 2640m, the parts of the ski run have a width of 30 m, and in a few stretches they even reach wider dimensions. This part of the course is extremely homogeneous and although demanding, it is used by a large number of skiers. The width of the different sections, in fact, allows the descent also to less expert skiers, while on the contrary the most skilled can ski along the lines of utmost slope and give proof of their technique. From a height of 2.390 m it is possible to go on to the ski run “Col Margherita”, or detour along the ski run “la Volata,” which rejoins the first one at a height of 2210m, in the Trentine area. The course of the ski run “Col Margherita”, situated on the ortografhic right, does not present particular technical difficulties, as the various stretches, sometimes not very wide, are supplied by slight slopes.
The course is served by the Cableway Col Margherita and by the chairlift Zingari, with which it is possible to get into the above-mentioned ski run at a height of 2.240 m. The course is marked as easy on account of the width of the sections in the highest part.

Lusia and Passo San Pellegrino in Summer

The Trevalli excursion area covers, as in wintertime, three areas: the Lusia area, which can be reached easily by cable car; the San Pellegrino area and the Falcade area. Falcade is easily reached from Lusia, as is the Paneveggio - Pale di San Martino Natural Park with its excursion area. From the San Pellegrino Pass, you can admire the Monzoni mountains bordering the San Nicolò Valley, and from there, set out on numerous excursions. Those who enjoy easier walks can take the path from the San Pellegrino Pass to the Fuciade refuge in its truly enchanting setting.

Countless other routes start out from Lusia and Passo San Pellegrino and those looking for more information about all possible excursions can consult the summer pages about excursions in the Fassa Valley on our web site www.dolomitinetwork.com.
